The Hot Spring Cure therapeutic under-blanket effectively emits far infrared rays(*1) at ambient temperature(*2) . The most significant difference between this and similar blankets produced by other companies is that a layer of functional ceramic Kiyonorite (*3) is directly printed onto the cotton material, making energy exchange far more efficient and effective.
(*1) Far infrared rays are an invisible spectrum of sunlight which raise the body’s temperature when absorbed by it. These rays are essential to living organisms. They are also known as “the sun’s growth rays.”
(*2) Ambient temperature: Unlike electric blankets and electric stimulation treatment devices, this product needs no external power source, such as combustion, electricity, or magnetic fields. The virtually imperceptible energy created by the temperature difference between the human body (even through clothes) and the functional ceramic is emitted at ambient temperature in the form of far infrared rays. This is well documented in academic papers.
(*3) Kiyonorite is the name of the ceramic compound used in this product. Discovered in the U.S. in 1999 during medical research (mainly into diabetes and its treatment), the substance was named after its inventor in order to identify it.
The Hot Spring Cure therapeutic under-blanket is a quilted blanket which has one inner ceramic sheet imprinted with patches of Kiyonorite special ceramic (patented) and two sweat absorbent layers of polyester cotton.

Inner layers B and C are specially processed to maintain a layer of air inside the blanket. This is a unique feature of the structure which heightens the functionality of the Kiyonorite ceramic.
The functional ceramic Kiyonorite reacts to body weight, body warmth, and friction and emits far infrared rays. Research has shown that in ambient temperatures, the material feels warm to the skin and increased peripheral blood flow. Kobe Medical Center, Hyogo, Japan published a paper on this in December 1998. These benefits were confirmed in November 1999 by the Diabetes Center of the Baptist Medical Center, Florida, USA . We are bringing this to market alongside clinical tests carried out in public health-care facilities in Japan. At present the product is not recognized as a medical device.
□Improved heat sensation and peripheral blood flow
The blanket gives a feeling of warmth to both parts of the body which are in direct contact with it, such as the shoulders, back and lumbar region, and to the hands and feet, which are not in direct contact with it. This is the effect of improved peripheral blood flow.
No artificial energy is required. The improvement in blood flow is brought about by energy provided by the user’s own body heat, meaning that this is an ideal tool to safely improve one’s immunity, heighten one’s natural healing ability, maintain one’s health and help recovery from illnesses.
□Ion effect
The generation of large amounts of negative ions helps to alleviate disorders in the body. Another benefit of the blanket is that it improves sleep patterns. Deeper sleep gives a fresher feeling when waking up.
□Absorption and evaporation of moisture
The polyester cotton layers are specially processed to absorb sweat efficiently. After the sweat is absorbed, the far infrared rays emitted by the Kiyonorite disperse the moisture and help it to evaporate. This function is far superior to that of a conventional bed pad.
□Durability
A superior product can only be called high quality if it is durable. A JIS standard washing test proved that the efficacy of the Kiyonorite ceramic sheet was not detrimentally affected.
・ The blanket should be placed underneath the bottom (fitted) bed sheet. The user may also sleep directly on top of the blanket.
・ When used together with an electric blanket or heated carpet, the therapeutic under-blanket should be placed on top. Please take care to set the electric blanket or heated carpet to a lower temperature than usual as the addition of heat from below may cause profuse body sweat.
・ Hot Spring Cure therapeutic under-blanket does not in itself generate heat. Increased blood flow raises the temperature of the skin (increased peripheral blood flow), and this creates a feeling of warmth. If the user feels too hot, then the upper part of the duvet or the room temperature should be adjusted.

The blanket can be washed in a domestic washing machine on the “hand wash” program. Chlorine-based detergents may have a detrimental effect on the material and stitching so should be avoided if possible. Dry the blanket thoroughly and store it together with other bedding.
